This is a completely G-Rated wordless comic based on the classic children’s book La semilla de zanahoria by Ruth Krauss, and is offered here as a tribute to that childhood favorite. The Carrot Seed
was originally published in English. Either way, if you have kids, it’s a timeless classic. Kids love the freakishly large vegetable that shows up at the end. The Turnip Seed is a story about stubborn little Clarita’s persistence in the face of adversity.
Does anyone actually eat turnips? I don't think I have ever eatten one.
Nice comic! You capture some very good body language. Keep up the good work.
I hope they like turnips! Turnip pie, turnip casserole, turnip soup. . .
I eat turnips ("neeps") in spring and summer because they are pretty easy to grow. Peeled sliced and steamed with just a little butter and salt they are quite nice. But only fresh ones. Don't even try the old ones. They are NAAAAASTY. Look for the musical version of this on YouTube soon.
Little Tix just found her calling. More rewarding than computer teching. At least she gets concrete results!
Actually that's little Clarita, Tix's younger sister. But the family resemblance is strong, so the mistake is understandable. And I haven't mapped out the cast yet.
So, now we know that Tix has a younger sister and her family love turnips. (Or gardening?)
Yes indeed, and Tix also has a brother named Jorge and another brother named Theo. (At least that's all of them I've drawn so far.) You'll be seeing more of them soon. I'm told that children are more sympathetic comic characters than middle aged women so all I have to do is go back in time a few decades and poof we're all dewy eyed children again. And as for the turnip, well, I'm guessing a turnip that size would be about as edible as those nuclear weapons grade zucchinis you get in your garden if you don't pick them.
Turnips are pretty good. I don't prefer them, but if they end up on my plate, I will chow down. 🙂
It looks like that little girl had big faith!
I like your site btw. 🙂
Yuk Turnips!!! God only created Turnips so Brussel Sprouts had something to taste better than. That little girl sure has a green thumb. Guess it's turnip for dinner for some time to come…
That was weird, it wouldn't let me post my comment but gave me a message that said I had to sign into my WordPress.com account before I could leave a comment yet your site is sellf hosted WP??????? Strange & stranger…
You must be posting from a new address or a new blog or something, Tony. All comments from previously approved addy's and blogs are automatically approved. New ones get moderated. You aren't a new commenter, but given how your blog moves about every six weeks, it probably thought you were. No worries, comments were received fine and any more you make should appear immediately.
Yep that's it then I am using my default WP.com url as my custom domain which is 20 bucks to renew expires soon & I'm not renewing it. So I haven't moved again just reverted to the original domain
