Isn’t it always the way. The song you most hate is your big money maker. Why doesn’t the public ever like anything good? I first heard the Macarena when my kids were little. I thought it was a children’s song. To me it belongs in the hallowed halls right up there with “Chicken Dance” and “Hokey Pokey.”
If you grew up on Pluto and never heard this gem, here it is. It’s catchy but trust me it gets BORING really fast, especially for the piano player.
Anyway, I’m just cleaning out and finishing up some random partial comics so the sketches stop cluttering up my space, then I’ll get to work on a big ol’ honkin’ story line.
The Macarena,
The Macarena is great….but only after several drinks….
Love the artwork, cheers!
I've read quite a few times that some band's most popular, most lucrative songs have been ones that they've hated with an extreme passion. But, hey, it pays the bills (and then some) I guess. 🙂
I heard one guy say "yeah I am a one hit wonder but it paid for my kids braces so screw the haters" or something like that.
Of all the stuff he wrote, Tchaikovsky truly hated his own Nutcracker. There is nothing wrong with it (to me) except that it gets overdone.
The Macarena is right up there with Achy Breaky Heart. But if I HAD to choose I'd prefer the Macarena.
When I was looking for a vid of Macarena I discovered that it is currently more popular in Oz than anywhere else, because it's kinda been encrusted into the national school physical education curriculum. BTW we had to do Achy Breaky Heart IN SPANISH last year. Luckily we did it before dinner.
This was my first time to hear the Macarena, and I found it interesting. Thanks for the entertaining video.
