In today’s comic, the Dude decides to cash in by selling an ebook for $19.95 that reveals the SIMPLE secret of being a great musician. Like a number of those download deals it merely tells you the same thing everyone has been telling you free for years, and you probably already even know it, but do you do it? There is an art to practice. Simple? yes. Easy? Hah!
Yep that is the secret.sadly even when you practice you will not be great at it.but as long as you are having fun that is what counts.
Why won't I be great if I practice? Granted, you have to practice mindfully consistently and excessively and focus on the the things that you need to improve, but there obviously ARE great musicians and I might as well be one of them.
If he learns the lesson, it might be worth the $20.
Exactly, sometimes people don't listen to the free advice but when you charge for it, they all of a sudden think it is some exclusive knowledge and they implement it. I once offered this chick a quick vocal tip and she got mad at me and never spoke to me again, then she hired this expensive vocal coach to tell her the same thing.
Yeah, that sounds familiar!
Oh, wow, couldn't we all learn from that.
The dude always speaks the truth doesn't he?
I always hate when I pay good money for obvious advice.
Results do not depend on whether the advice is obvious, but whether you TAKE it. Sometimes the act of paying for it makes one take it seriously.
True, that dude is a dumb ass indeed.
I think if he is a true musician, or at least really dedicated to be one, he wouldn't even buy that tutorial in the first place, since he would've realized that there's no "short cut" here.
It's rather like the golfer who said – funny – the more I practise the better I get!
How very true. If you don't mind I'd like to use this image in my post. All credits will of course go to you with a link back to you 🙂
Thanks so much 🙂 I really like your place here. Keep it up 🙂
Learning the hard way. 🙂
or just getting mad and bitching that its a rip off and not doing it.
Hahaha! That's the best advice I've heard all day. And if somebody thought they were gonna get a "secret", then it's money well-spent for them. 😀
Ha! Good one. But then that is the "secret" to life eh?
You'd think it was a well-guarded secret, given the small number of people that seem to know it.
Maybe he could resell the Musical secret ebook & make a profit from some other dummy.
It may help my guitar playing, I'll give ya 50 bucks for it!!!
No not really…
Usually that sort of thing is frowned on, Tony. I gotta say, the ebook and a lotta practicing will make you better!
Awesome, I literally laughed out loud.
I came across your Cobbler Jesus toon from last year but there was nowhere to leave a comment. Just wanted to say it was hilarious. Wish I'd thoughta that one for my Sunday Bible Toons.
I have it set to close comments down after about 21 days because otherwise spam slips in. Some people love Cobbler Jesus and some people think it's a huge groaner. You're welcome to use it, with the usual caveats about attribution and linky luv. 🙂
thanks for commenting at my blog. cheers!
That guy on the screen reminded me a little of Walter White in Breaking Bad. I thought he was going to suggest making Meth.
