I did the balloon in German because that is what Beethoven spoke. If you can’t guess, it says: “Good bye, cruel world. No one likes my symphony.” I hate how Facebook is kind of a sewer, and that anything truly novel or fine you put out there gets ignored, whereas the most banal of updates generates a massive response. If young Beethoven had relied on Facebook for validation, we might have had only one symphony from him. I hope the hand with the gun in this cartoon is better than the last one. I’ve been working on hands all week. I did all the shadows on this cartoon digitally, instead of tweaking up manga pen shadows from the analog original. I didn’t even use the mouse, I used the trackpad. Ouch. That would cramp up your hand if you were doing a really detailed piece. My itch to try a Wacom grows stronger.
If Beethoven had Facebook,
Hey, great hands. great shadows too. There's a lot to this stuff. Too bad you can't manage to fit the whole explanation in the dialogue box, in German.
Oh I could wax elegant in German with the help of either the Parsons or Google Translate. But I don't think anyone would care.
I think you need to look up the book, "Literature on Facebook". It's hilarious. Especially the Hamlet section.
Thanks Bryy I will check up on it.
The lesson is simple: Don't rely on Facebook (or anything else, for that matter) for validation.
I agree wholeheartedly- be able to like what you are doing, and just wait to find people to like it with you. Not everyone will like the same work(s); if they did music and life in general would be a much blander experience.
