If you just dropped in here, the Farty Poop story arc begins with this comic. There is 1 episode prior to this one.
Ahhhhh… you’ve passed the first hurdle. Now comes the follow-up interview, usually by phone. When you get this call, you relax just a little because it means you’ve made the first cut, and they’re just double checking you. A skilled interviewer can trick you into letting your guard down and revealing any problematic asshole tendencies you might have whitewashed during the formal interview. On the other hand, they can also raise doubts in the applicant’s mind about the company. An art director who’s been there a month and doesn’t want to show off any work?? How strange is that? What kind of a company IS this, anyway?
Follow-up interview,
Hmmmm… Not sure if I'd want to work at a company named Farty Poop. It just has a bad feel to it.
There are some pretty whimsical successful company names like Hadoop, Dosh-Dosh, etc. I guess Tim must have sniffed a little too much glue and thought that "Farty Poop" was a name everyone can relate to, or it was "cute," or some such nonsense.
Your instincts are absolutely correct, Tony. You know this is NOT going to go well. Come on. How entertaining would it be if the Farty Poop job turned out to be a wonderful rewarding satisfying job, and Tix was happy and content and worked there until they pried her cold stiff fingers from the keyboard?
Is Farty Poop redundant. I think I would rather have Farty poops than poopy farts. I would be in the correct position for the former.
Farty poops are definitely better than poopy farts, but whoever came up with that business name had something wedged up a place in a way that would probably block off both.
Well, at least it sounds like a consistent company. It lives up to its crappy name by hiring such a dubious director.
So, what does that say about poor ol' Tix? or at least what they think of her?
That's how my wife felt when she had two interview this week. It's like she wanted the job(s), but at the same time wasn't entirely sure if she did. Working in a new place is a tremendous change all around.
I am proud to say that she was offered one of the jobs (the one she wanted the most) and she accepted. With a husband who has delusions of being a cartoonist, our family really and truly needs two paychecks. 🙂
I'm glad your wife got the job she liked better of the two. And at least I have no delusions of being a cartoonist. (That's a whole 'nother story. )
