By “old geek” (AKA “mature” geek) I am not talking about someone who can collect social security. I’m talking about anyone over the age of 38 or so. It turns out that experience isn’t always your friend and a mature geek considers him or herself lucky to even score an interview. All these little nickel and dime companies run by boomers think all the people around their age can’t grok the latest tech because THEY don’t get it. Or they think their situation is so “special” that experience elsewhere won’t help. Wrong or not, they’re the ones who are interviewing and hiring. The punchline of this comic was supposed to say “work hard for peanuts.” I didn’t fix it because it still packs the punch without that word. You will get that later anyway if you read the upcoming episodes. For the new year, I am going to do a series of work-related comics. This is also my first comic with a car in it. I’m quite proud of the car.
