You are not supposed to take any natural materials away from Galápagos. They will even confiscate souvenirs you buy if they are made from anything from the islands, other than a small number of specific exceptions, like coffee grown for export. I really did try to get the sea lion crap off my boots. But I was already off the boat and away from running water before I found the patch I missed. Those guys aren’t kidding. Luckily they didn’t fine me.
